Reigning UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya wasn’t impressed with Derek Brunson’s main event win over Darren Till earlier today (Sat., Sept. 4, 2021) at UFC Vegas 36 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Brunson, who was riding a four-fight win streak heading into UFC Vegas 36’s headliner, cut through Till with countless takedowns, heavy ground-and-pound, and an eventual third-round submission finish (see it HERE). After his win, Brunson proclaimed that he will wait for a title shot and another meeting with “Last Stylebender.” Remember, Adesanya and Brunson fought back at UFC 230 in 2018. It was Adesanya’s fourth Octagon appearance and he ended up finishing Brunson via first-round TKO.
After Brunson’s victory over Till on Saturday Adesanya took to social media to deliver a message to the veteran contender. Despite Brunson’s five-fight win streak Adesanya doesn’t seem convinced that he’s better than he was three years ago when they first met.
Calm down…boy.

“Calm down…boy,” wrote Adesanya. “You still a bum…son.”
Adesanya, who has amassed a 10-0 record at 185 pounds since his UFC debut back in 2018, is coming off a successful title defense over Marvin Vettori back in June. “Last Stylebender” is expected to meet Robert Whittaker in a rematch his next time out, but if he wins that there’s a really good chance a reboot with Brunson will take place in 2022.
