Khamzat Chimaev is looking to bury the hatchet with UFC middleweight contender Darren Till in hopes of helping “Gorilla” touch up his wrestling.
While Chimaev has taken on all comers since his UFC arrival in 2020 the undefeated sensation seems to enjoy mixing it up with Till the most. Of course, “Borz” and Till ended up talking about a hypothetically matchup after dishing out some trash talk, but a fight never materialized.
“Say it to me where you want, I will fight brother. We’ll fight. Bullsh*t guys talk too much but we’ll have to show real fight, brother” Chimaev told Till during an Instagram exchange earlier this year.
“Oh yeah, I’ll fight you. Of course, you know I will. But you know I beat you right? You know I beat you easy. You know this. You know this,” Till said.
Now Chimaev is ready to bury the hatchet and help Till fix his ongoing Octagon woes. After seeing Till get beat up and choked out by Derek Brunson in his last UFC outing Chimaev is hoping that Till will travel to Sweden for some wrestling lessons.
“No, I like this guy, actually,” Chimaev recently told BT Sport. “He’s funny. A funny guy. And I feel sorry for him about last fight, he lose. He lose many fights last time. I think he’s good, but has to train harder…
“No, but if he wants to come to Stockholm, he’s welcome,” Chimaev added. “I told him, I can help you with your wrestling or something. And we can spar, we can train.”
A Chimaev-Till sparring session would be fun to watch, but “Borz” will first have to deal with Li Jingliang in his return to the cage this weekend at UFC 267. Remember, Chimaev has not competed since Sept. 2020 after battling a nasty case of COVID-19 for the past year. He will have to prove himself again this weekend in Abu Dhabi with the whole MMA world watching, including Till.
