Bellator Season Five Opener Draws 235,000 Viewers

Bellator Fighting Championships opened their fifth season last Saturday, September 10, with Bellator 49 which took place at Caesars Atlantic City in New Jersey.

The event featured the opening quarterfinal bouts of the promotions welterweight tournament and drew in an audience of 235,000 viewers for the live broadcast on MTV2. The immediate re-broadcast drew in 153,000 viewers.

Under the MTV2 broadcast banner, Bellator 49 drew in the fourth highest ratings with season four averaging 242,000 viewers.

The event also featured the first full prelim card video stream which was shown on Spike.com earlier in the evening.

Bellator is set for their next event, Bellator 50, this Saturday, Sept. 17, which takes place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida and features the opening round of the Season Five Middleweight Quarterfinal bouts.
