Vitor Belfort Says To Many Older Fighters Risk Injury By Rushing Back To The Cage

On the latest episode of HDNet’s “Inside MMA” program, former UFC champ Vitor ‘The Phenom’ Belfort revealed that he had suffered a knee injury during training and that was why he pulled out of a UFC 139 bout with Cung Le in San Jose. Belfort feels that at the age of 34 that rushing back to the cage is a recipe for re-injuring oneself, and notes that too many of the older fighters rush back too soon.

“One guy that I would like to think would be a great match is the guy that’s been talking bad about Brazil is Chael Sonnen. I think that would be a great match for me. He totally disrespects the country and he knows how to sell.”
