A classless fan marred what could very well have been the final wrestling match of Jordan Burroughs’ career.

Burroughs, who owns the U.S. wrestling record with seven combined Olympic and world championships, was eliminated from the U.S. Olympic trials on Friday after falling 3-0 to Jason Nolf in the freestyle 74kg division at Penn State University.

As Burroughs was leaving the mat for potentially the last time in his illustrious career, a fan in attendance shouted “career is over” prompting Burroughs to turn back. Burroughs can be seen saying something to the idiotic fan before walking away without further incident.

Daniel Cormier Outraged by the disrespect directed at Jordan Burroughs

Accomplished wrestler and UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier was infuriated by the clip, referencing another incident featuring an unruly fan at UFC 300 earlier this month.

“What a piece of trash this guy is,” Cormier wrote on X. “To yell go home to a guy who’s represented our country the right way for 13 years/ 7 world or Olympic titles is insane. This is why Arman punched that fan. People behave with no consequence. This dude possibly wrestled last match of his career and this is what you give him?

“I love how manning jumped to his guys defense. Sometimes I am so lost in the way people act. It’s mind boggling. JB you’re still the man. Time gets us all. Also Jason Nolf is a dog!”

Veteran UFC referee Marc Goddard also chimed in on social media, displaying his disdain for the distasteful comment.

Jordan Burroughs

“Absolutely despicable,” Goddard posted. “For someone as accomplished & revered as JB to hear this POS say that. Same as online anonymity, this is what certain people think they can get away with in a world of no consequence. Would they do the same in less public setting? We all know the answer.”

It remains to be seen if Jordan Burroughs will pursue a career in mixed martial arts with his wrestling career now in the rearview. In a 2021 interview, Burroughs said that he was “not really interested in doing” MMA, but his tune has changed a bit in more recent years.

Alternatively, he could go the route of another Olympic gold medalist, Kurt Angle, and make the move to sports entertainment. Burroughs was showcased in the crowd during WWE’s WrestleMania XL event at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, being introduced by long-time play-by-play man Michael Cole.

Conor McGregor

The one and only Conor McGregor was live in the crowd at the new Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou fight. Right before the judges’ scorecards were read, he began recording and showed a glimpse of the crowd’s reaction to the surprising decision.

Online, fans were outraged about the decision. Tyson Fury was awarded the victory via a split decision and the scorecards seemed to leave the majority of people seething. The Fury vs Ngannou fight was extremely competitive, way more so than anybody could have really expected.

Ngannou dropped Fury in the third round with a crisp left hook. Many said he looked like he belonged in there with ‘The Gypsy King’ and a far fetch from the man who was a 14-1 underdog leading into the matchup.

Conor McGregor shows the crowd’s reaction to the judges’ scorecards

The video begins with McGregor spouting some illegible praise for the fight. Seconds later, you can begin to hear him a lot more clearly. “10 rounds? Why not 12?” Conor McGregor began. “That was a hell of a boxing match. Hats off to Francis Ngannou.”

“Francis Ngannou put on a hell of a performance for us,” McGregor continued. Composed, structural, gets the knockdown.”

As the scorecards begin to get read, McGregor and the crowd seem to start getting uneasy. “Oh my god, where is this going?” He cried as the first scorecard was read. As the other cards were read off, the crowd erupts into what seemed to be a huge combination of cheers and boos.

Conor McGregor and everybody around him ringside seemed very disappointed. On video you can see people shaking their hands, and ‘The Notorious’ doesn’t seem to like the decision very much.

“Wowwww, good ol’ boxing huh? Yeah, yeah, yeah, we know the sus (story). Fair play.” The camera pans around and highlights the disappointment of the crowd. Many seem to have truly thought Ngannou was about to win that fight, although some cheers were definitely audible as the scores were read as well.

Fans tuning into Absolute Championship Akhmat 161 on Friday bore witness to perhaps the worst injury to ever occur inside the cage.

Injuries are an unfortunate part of any professional sport, but every once in a while, a truly horrific injury comes down the pipeline and reminds fans and fellow fighters just how big the risk they take truly is. We sadly received another reminder at ACA 161 when heavyweight fighter Grigoriy Ponomarev suffered perhaps the most grotesque leg break in mixed martial arts history.

Less than a minute into the bout, Ponomarev had his opponent locked up against the fence before attempting to throw his opponent, Mukhamad Vakhaev, with a belly-to-belly style suplex. Vakhaev scrambled back to his feet, but Ponomarev quickly shot back in looking for a takedown. It was then that Vakhaev threw Ponomarev off of him, causing Ponomarev to stumble and immediately snap his left leg at the knee.

Adding insult to injury, Grigoriy Ponomarev’s left ankle also broke.

Alex Pereira UFC 291

Just weeks out from his return to action at UFC 291, Alex Periera has been spotted sharpening his skills with Olympic boxer Khalil Coe. Poatan’ is moving up to the light heavyweight division for his return, and is facing one of the most dangerous fighters in the entire division: former light heavyweight world champion Jan Blachowicz.

Alex Pereira last fought at UFC 287 against Israel Adesanya, in a rematch for the middleweight title. It was their fourth fight in total. Adesanya and Pereira had faced off two times prior in kickboxing, and their first MMA match ended with Pereira victorious over ‘The Last Stylebender’ via TKO and ‘Poatan’ seizing Adesanya’s middleweight title.

The rematch at UFC 287 played out quite differently, and for the first time ever, Israel Adesanya was victorious over Alex Pereira. Instead of going for an immediate rematch (which would have marked their fifth fight against each other in total), Pereira would instead opt to move up to the light heavyweight division.

Alex Pereira prepares for Jan Blachowicz with some sparring with an Olympic boxer

In the video depicting the sparring match, Olympic boxer Khalil Coe can be seen in headgear, shelling up as Alex Pereira lets off an absurd combo of shots. Most of the video goes the same way, with different clips edited together of Pereira having Coe backed up against the ropes, shelling up, while ‘Poatan’ unleashes a lethal barrage of uppercuts, hooks, and straights. A few times Coe can be seen throwing counter shots, but they don’t appear to really land, and at best only lightly clip Periera.

With UFC 291 drawing closer and closer, it’s good to see Pereira look so fit and agile this close to his fight. The world is definitely wondering how the speed and power of ‘Poatan’ will translate to the light heavyweight division, and so far, it looks like Pereira will be a quite frightening force of nature.

Who do you think wins the Alex Pereira vs, Jan Blachowicz fight at UFC 291?
