An undisclosed injury to Season eleven “The Ultimate Fighter” participant Brad Tavares (7-1) has forced the middleweight out of his upcoming UFC 137 bout with newcomer Dustin Jacoby (6-0). Jacoby was actually a replacement for Tavares first opponent, Tim Credeur, who pulled out of their fight on October 1.
Tavares vs. Jacoby had been promoted to the main card earlier this week after headliner Georges St-Pierre pulled out of his title fight with Carlos Condit due to injury.
On Friday, UFC officials announced that bantamweights Scott ‘Young Gun’ Jorgensen (12-4) vs. Jeff ‘Big Frog’ Curran (33-13-1) would be taking that main card slot, while another newcomer, Clifford Starks (7-0), would take on Jacoby on the evenings preliminary card.
UFC 137: Penn vs. Diaz is scheduled to take place on Oct. 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Starks comes to the UFC on a seven fight win streak, earning four of those victories in 2011. His last fight took place recently, earning a unanimous decision win at the Shark Fights 20 event in Laughlin, Nevada.
