Lightning struck twice for fight fans earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 2, 2023) at UFC Austin live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside Moody Center in Austin, Tex., when Cody Brundage ended Zach Reese with a massive knockout slam one fight after Drakkar Klose did the same exact thing (see it HERE).
This fight card has been a wild one. Not only did Rodolfo Bellato vs. Ihor Potieria turn into one of the best fights of the year (watch HERE), but now two fighters have paid homage to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and his legendary knockout slam against Ricardo Arona.
Brundage, who was 1-3 in his last four UFC fights entering this weekend, was UFC Austin’s biggest betting underdog. Reese was supposed to build on his undefeated record and make good on his UFC debut, but Brundage had other plans.
It didn’t take long for the middleweight affair to hit the ground. Reese was off his back threatening with multiple submissions. He eventually caught Brundage with a deep triangle choke, but Brundage was on the defensive. Out of nowhere, he picked Reese up and slammed him down on the canvas. Reese’s head hit hard, putting him in danger and allowing Brundage to land a few more shots before the referee stepped in.
It was simply incredible and a finish that sent the UFC broadcast booth into an absolute frenzy. Check out the final moments in the above video player.
