The undercard to the Jake Paul vs. Andre August boxing card earlier tonight (Fri., Dec. 15, 2023) live on DAZN from inside Caribe Royale Orlando in Orlando, Florida, produced one of the scariest knockouts of the entire year.
There hasn’t been much buzz surrounding the main event clash between Paul and August, but promoters anteed up and tried to stack the undercard as much as possible. This included a super welterweight clash between undefeated Cuban prospect, Yoenis Tellez, and elder veteran, Livan Navarro. Neither guy is a star, but their fight produced a finish that will be talked about for the coming months.
Tellez, who had finished five out of his six pro wins by way of knockout, was the betting favorite coming into this fight. Navarro, however, showed some solid technique and overall toughness, dragging this fight into the 10th round. That’s when Tellez delivered the best punch of his young career thus far.
The young Cuban fighter delivered a blistering left shovel hook that caught Navarro directly on the chin. Navarro fell back in a heap and his head hit the canvas. He was down for quite some time, but eventually made it back to his feet. It was a scary finish to say the least and a win for Tellez that earns him the WBA Continental Americas Super Welterweight title.
