Russian icon Fedor Emelianenko (32-4) ended a three fight losing skid by employing some patience against his latest opponent, Jeff ‘The Snowman’ Monson (43-13), by earning a clear-cut unanimous decision in Moscow.
Fedor and Monson headlined this morning’s M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Monson” event, which took place on Nov. 20, 2011 at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow, Russia. The event aired live across the world via pay-per-view.
After three straight losses under the Strikeforce banner, all by stoppages, ‘The Last Emporer’ showed much poise by keeping the fight standing versus Monson, and refusing to dive in for a quick finish even after dropping Monson three times in the second round.
Monson has a notable submission background, so it’s possible that Fedor didn’t want a repeat of his early exit against Fabricio Werdum two summer’s ago.
In the end, Judges awarded the Russian heavyweight the unanimous decision by scores of 30-27 across the board.
