Yesterday I was busy, so I missed the apparent Twitter war between Arianny Celeste and Chael Sonnen. Most of the tweets have since been deleted but here’s a recap:
Chael Sonnen gave an interview to the Las Vegas Weekly last Friday, where he was asked the all too pressing question: Who are you pulling for in the Ring Girl of the year category? to which Sonnen replied: “We only had one and that was Chandella [Powell]. The other was the IQ card girl. Arianny [Celeste] kind of walks around and holds up her latest test score. One time when there was a title fight, she got all the way up to five and we were very proud of her.”
Then Celeste caught wind of the insult and tweeted this now deleted post:
“Hey what’s ur name.. after @spideranderson kicks your ass..u won’t even be able to count to 5!! Get ready to kiss brazils ass!”
and then this:
But the 34 year old Sonnen wasn’t about to “grow up” and instead engaged in an argument of 140 characters or less with the almost decade younger Celeste by tweeting:
“Seems easy to wear a bikini and seems easy to walk in a circle, but try walking in a circle while wearing a bikini. Talented girl!”
…which has also since been deleted, though it lives on in every single MMA site.
But Celeste still sneaked in an extra jab in the aftermath today as she posted:
And to his credit, she should be thanking Chael Sonnen… It was Celeste’s face on the home page of Yahoo! today.
