Chase Hooper turned in a “Dream” performance earlier today (Sat., May 11, 2024) at UFC St. Louis live on ESPN from inside Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri, as the young lightweight stopped Viacheslav Borshchev with a dominant second-round submission (D’arce hoke).

Despite Borshchev being the much better striker on paper, it was Hooper who connected with a massive overhand left early on that stunned Borshchev and knocked him to the canvas. Hooper quickly jumped on top and proceeded to suffocate Borshchev with punches, elbows, and countless submission attempts for the entire round.

The same thing was happening in the second round as Hooper secure a takedown and dominated from the top. He flowed with Borshchev and pretty much had his way in every exchange. Borshchev eventually couldn’t defend anymore and found himself in a tight D’arce choke. Hooper turned over and within a few seconds the referee stepped in for the stoppage. Borshchev protested the submission, but upon further review “Slava” did appear to tap once as Hooper had the choke sunk in.

Controversial? Possibly. A standout performance from Hooper? Absolutely.
