Carlos Prates put a stop to a dreadful streak of decisions earlier tonight (Sat., June 8, 2024) at UFC Louisville live on ESPN+ from inside KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, when the welterweight prospect put a nasty stop to Charles Radtke with a first-round walkoff knockout (knee to the body).

It was a much-needed stoppage for Prates considering the “Prelims” underground started with six-straight decisions.

Prates was a sizeable betting favorite coming into this fight due in part to his size and ability to hurt people on the feet. Radtke had gone 2-0 during his short stint with the promotion, but he struggled early to land anything noteworthy. This was Prates’ fight to lose and he took full advantage.

As the two welterweights worked their way along the cage Prates framed Radtke and launched a perfectly-placed knee to the body. It connected flush and slammed into Radtke’s liver area. “Chuck Buffalo” immediately collapsed to the canvas t cover up as Prates walked off with the best stoppage of his career.

Check out the final moments in the above video player.

Prates, 30, is now 2-0 as a member of the UFC roster and has won his last nine pro fights (eight being finishes). This was a small step-up in competition so it will be interesting to see how Prates performs against more seasoned opponents, but it was an incredible showing nonetheless.
