Virtually overlooked in all of the commotion of Wednesday’s UFC on FOX: Evans vs. Davis press conference was a middleweight bout announced on Twitter (@ufc).

Plus Jacoby/Camozzi join middleweight mayhem at UFC on FOX 2 in Chicago

Middleweight Chris ‘Kamikaze’ Camozzi (15-5) is set to meet Dustin Jacoby (6-1) at the FOX event which is scheduled to take place on January 28th at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Camozzi returned to the UFC after a one fight absence last October, losing a decision to Francis Carmont at UFC 137. ‘Kamikaze’ was released from the promotion after a loss to Kyle Noke last February at UFC 127, putting the former TUF 11 fighter at 1-2 in the UFC at that time. He then appeared on a Shark Fights 15 card in May, earning a split decision victory against Joey VillaseƱor in a bout that was originally ruled a draw due to an error in scoring.

Jacoby debuted with the UFC in October suffering a decision loss to Clifford Starks at the event. It was the first loss of Jacoby’s short career, which only began in November of 2010. The Illinois fighter has won each of his six victories by stoppage, earning five TKO wins and one submission victory. In 2011, Jacoby has gone 5-1.

Camozzi should be very weary of his upcoming opponent if he wants to stay in the UFC. Six first round finishes points to a fighter who lays it all on the line from the start. I would expect Camozzi to clinch a lot to get this into the later rounds to see whether Jacoby has a gas tank or not.
