On July 20, the promotion held a UFC Fight Night event at the Apex Facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event saw Virna Jandiroba take on Amanda Lemos in a strawweight bout. It lasted two rounds, with Jandiroba defeating her fellow Brazilian by submission.
The UFC’s schedule will continue with notable matchups from its stacked roster. The company has several events confirmed to occur this year, including three pay-per-views announced thus far.
This Saturday, the UFC will host a pay-per-view event at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester, England. Welterweight champion Leon Edwards headlines the card and puts his title on the line in a rematch against Belal Muhammad. Their first fight ended in a no contest after “Rocky” accidentally poked his rival in the eye on March 13, 2021. Since then, Muhammad has been pushing for a rematch to prove he could’ve won their first encounter. DraftKings currently has Edwards as the favorite to retain his championship for the third time.
Elsewhere on the card, Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall will face Curtis Blaydes in a rematch. Aspinall aims to avenge his TKO loss to Blaydes in their first matchup at a UFC Fight Night event on July 23, 2022. The heavyweight grappler has shared that he isn’t making any adjustments for the rematch and believes he’ll be victorious again. That said, the interim champion’s punching power and speed could give Blaydes problems if he takes Aspinall lightly.
