As quickly as the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced the withdrawal of welterweight newcomer Siyar Bahadurzada from next months UFC 142 event, they just as quickly announced a replacement naming another promotion newcomer, Carlo Prater (29-10-1), as his replacement.

UC 142: Aldo vs. Mendez is scheduled to take place on January 14th at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, featuring a featherweight title bout between champ Jose Aldo versus No. 1 contender Chad Mendes. It’s likely the two lightweights will square off on the nights preliminary card.

Prater may be familiar to fans as he competed at a Strikeforce Challengers show this past summer, as well as with the WEC and MFC promotions in his career. Currently the Brazilian is riding a four fight win streak, all of which occurred in 2011. Most recently he was in action this past September, earning a second round arm-triangle choke submission against Gleristone Santos at a Capital Fight event in Brazil.

Silva debuted with the UFC last summer in the top promotions recent visit to the South American country. At UFC 134, Silva stopped Luis Ramos in just 40-seconds earning a first round TKO victory, extending his undefeated streak to ten. The bout this past summer was his one and only fight in 2011, with four matches in 2010 going 3-0-1.
