Two former UFC veterans locked horns this weekend at United Fight League 5 from Chandler, Arizona, resulting in a super rare Peruvian necktie submission finish.
With no UFC event this weekend fight fans were left to scramble for some in-cage action. Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) delivered the goods early Friday with a nose break for the ages and UFL followed that up with spectacular finish right around midnight.
UFL 5’s main event featured a bantamweight title fight between veteran fighters Vince Morales and Hunter Azure. Both guys were riding a win streak coming into this weekend, but Morales has been the more successful fighter since parting ways with UFC back in 2022. Azure has been a little more up-and-down through three appearances on the regional circuit.
On Saturday, the two UFC veterans went toe-to-toe for two hard rounds before Morales took control in the third. He was able to utilize his grappling and gain control along the fence. That’s when Morales lined Azure up for a rare Peruvian necktie. Morales locked it in and began to squeeze. It looked like Azure may be able to defend it, but he eventually tapped.

Morales, 33, is 5-0 since leaving UFC two years ago and is now the UFL bantamweight champion. If the MMA veteran continues this type of success there’s a good chance he could land back inside the Octagon sooner rather than later.
