Court McGee turned in his first finish since 2010 earlier tonight (Sat., Oct. 5, 2024) at UFC 307 live on ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, sparking the “Prelims” undercard with a first-round rear-naked choke finish over Tim Means.
McGee was entering this fight as a betting underdog, but he was coming off neck surgery and competing in front of his home crowd. It there was ever a time for the veteran welterweight to turn the clock back it was tonight. Means is as savvy as they come, but he had lost four out of his last five coming into tonight.
The neck surgery must have been exactly what “Crusher” needed because his hands looked crisp early on before moving in and securing a takedown along the cage. From there, McGee worked to gain back control and put pressure on Means with the choke. Means defended nicely, but once McGee got his hooks in that was all she wrote.

McGee, 39, snaps a brutal three-fight losing streak with this finish. Some thought the veteran fighter maybe should have retired tonight off a big win in front of his home crowd, but McGee has three fights left on his current UFC deal and will continue to play spoiler in one of the most dangerous divisions in the sport.
