Conor McGregor dropped $500,000 on a massive parlay earlier today (Sat., Oct. 26, 2024) for the UFC 308 event live on ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE, picking former UFC champions Max Holloway and Robert Whittaker to win by way of knockout. “Notorious” had a chance to walk away with a whopping $17.2 million in winnings.

The former UFC double champion has been eager to hit it big since partnering with Duel Bits earlier this year. McGregor tried banking some sizeable cash last weekend when he dropped another $500,000 on former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou to lose his PFL debut. Ngannou went on to win by way of first-round knockout and cost McGregor a chance to win $1.7 million.

On Saturday, “Notorious” decided to roll with the veterans and predicted two separate knockout wins for Holloway and Whittaker. Holloway was going for his second UFC featherweight title reign in a main event matchup against undefeated UFC champion Ila Topuria. Whittaker, on the other hand, was asked to go up against undefeated middleweight sensation Khamzat Chimaev in the co-headliner.

Unfortunately for McGregor, things did not go as planned.

First off, Whittaker was absolutely wiped out in the co-main event. Chimaev wasted little time shooting in and utilizing his wrestling and grappling to control the former UFC middleweight champion. That eventually led to a rear-naked choke attempt by Khamzat that ended in a vicious face crank (watch HERE). The submission finish broke Whittaker’s jaw and also McGregor’s hopes of a big payout.

McGregor was no longer in play when the main event started, but thankfully he wasn’t. That’s because Topuria became the first fighter to stop Max Holloway with strikes when he ended “Blessed” with a third-round knockout. The victory solidified Topuria as the best featherweight in the world and spoiled the second half of McGregor’s $17 million parlay.

After all was said and done, McGregor took to social media to lick his wounds. Check it out below:
