Rising BJJ phenom, Kade Ruotolo, returned to the ring last night (Fri., Nov. 8, 2024) at ONE 169 from inside Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, stopping lightweight counterpart Ahmed Mutjaba with a 64-second submission (brabo choke).

Ruotolo, 21, is one of the most promising young grapplers in combat sports today. At the age of 19, the Hawaiian fighter became the youngest-ever ADCC Submission Fighting World champion. He’s been winning BJJ competitions for more than five years and finally transitioned to mixed martial arts (MMA) this past June. Ruotolo made his debut at ONE 167 and scored a first-round submission finish to officially spark his MMA career.

On Friday, Ruotolo had another chance to shine on one of the biggest fight cards of 2024 for ONE Championship. The Hawaiian fighter was featured on the main card portion of the event and took a sizeable step up in competition against Mutjaba. Ruotolo’s first opponent earlier this year didn’t have much MMA experience at all, but Mutjaba has been competing under the ONE banner since 2016 and was supposed to be a bigger test for Ruotolo.

Fortunately for Ruotolo, he didn’t miss a beat in his second MMA appearance. It took the Hawaiian prospect just one minute to land a massive overhand right that sent Mutjaba crashing to the canvas. Ruotolo quickly rushed in for heavy hammer fists before switching up his attack and locking up the tight choke. Mutjaba didn’t stand a chance and tapped out pretty quickly.
