Da’Mon Blackshear looked better than ever earlier tonight (Sat., Nov. 9, 2024) at UFC Vegas 100 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, putting a stop to bantamweight veteran Cody Stamann with a first-round submission (rear-naked choke).

Blackshear is known for his wrestling and submission ability, but he was more than willing to stand and bang with Stamann every step of the way. Eventually, Blackshear was able to inflict some considerable damage. After landing a nasty knee along the cage Blackshear unloaded a crisp combination that had Stamann’s head bouncing back and forth. Stamann started falling to the ground so he shot in for a takedown. That proved to be a big mistake.

Blackshear wasted no time attacking a one-arm guillotine choke. Stamann was still hurt so he wasn’t able to fully defend it. The choke was tight, but Stamann’s strong neck allowed him to stay alive. It wasn’t for long, though, as Blackshear switched up his attack to a rear-naked choke. Stamann lasted just a few seconds before tapping out for just the third time in his career.

Check out the final moments in the above video player.

Blackshear, 30, came into this fight riding a disappointing two-fight losing streak so a performance like this one was exactly what the doctor ordered. Despite Stamann’s recent lack of success he’s still a tough guy to finish and Blackshear made it look relatively easy. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Blackshear fight his way into the bantamweight top 15 in 2025 after looking like he did Saturday night.
