“The Ultimate Fighter 5″ contestant Jim Miller (18-5) appears to be moving back to featherweight after five years fighting as a lightweight. Miller will reportedly make his Octagon debut at 145-lbs against “TUF 14″ competitor Steven ‘Super’ Siler 19-9 at the upcoming UFC on FX 2 event in Australia.
News of the matchup was announced by TheMMACorner.com who learned of the matchup from sources close to the fight.
UFC on FX: Alves vs. Kampmann (aka UFC on FX 2) is expected to take place on March 3, 2012 at the Allphones Arena (previously known as Acer Arena) in Sydney, Australia. The event is headlined by a welterweight bout between former No. 1 contender Thiago Alves and Martin Kampmann.
Miller made the move to lightweight back in 2006, and after ten appearances in the Octagon (7-3) and four “Fight Night” bonuses, the fighter has opted to drop back to his old fighting weight. Miller’s last fight took place in August, earning a second round submission of TJ O’Brien at UFC on Versus 5. The win helped him rebound from a decision loss to Matt Wiman at the Fight for the Troops 2 show last January.
Siler was a member of Team Miller during “TUF 14″ and failed to make the semi-finals of the series, he did though, win his UFC debut by defeating Josh Clopton at the reality show Finale. The win, like Miller, put him back into the win column having dropped his last fight. ‘Super’ was submitted by Cole Escovedo last January at a local event in Utah. The loss ended a four fight iwn streak for the California fighter.
