UFC welterweight Paulo Thiago (14-3) is reportedly set to face newcomer Siyar ‘The Killer’ Bahadurzada (20-4-1) to the promotion at the upcoming UFC on Fuel TV 2 in Sweden.
News of the matchup was first announced by Swedish site mmanytt.se on Friday and was later confirmed by MMAjunkie.com.
UFC on Fuel TV 2 is expected to take place on April 14, 2012 at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
Thiago had been scheduled to face Mike Pyle at next weekends UFC 142 event but was forced to withdraw due to injury. The Brazilian is currently 1-2 in his last three Octagon appearances, having earned a decision win over David Mitchell at UFC 134 last August. Thiago had been scheduled to face Johny Hendricks last March but was forced out due to injury in that match as well. His two losses came at the hands of Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann.
Bahadurzada is currently on a six fight win streak, earning all of his victories with various promotions in Europe and Brazil. He is a former Shooto champion with ten victories via (T)KO, six by submission and four by decision. He is a native of Afghanistan and currently fights out of the Golden Glory gym in the Netherlands.
