Friday night (January 27, 2012) saw the Canadian based Maximum Fighting Championship promotion host it’s latest event, MFC 32: Bitter Rivals, from the Mayfield Inn Trade and Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.
The main card was broadcast live on HDNet featuring a light heavyweight bout between former UFC vet Wilson Gouveia vs. MFC mainstay Dwayne Lewis, and a 162-lbs catchweight bout between former lightweight champ Antonio McKee vs. Brian Cobb.
McKee came in 7-lbs over the limit and was immediately stripped of his MFC title by company president Mark Pavelich. He was also released from the MFC following his bout with Cobb. Cobb, meanwhile, was also overweight for the lightweight title bout, hitting the scales at 155.8 lbs leaving both fighters fined 20% of their purses.
