Another bout added to May’s upcoming UFC on FUEL TV 3 card is a lightweight bout between veteran Aaron Riley (30-13-1) and TUF 12′s ‘AK Kid’ Cody McKenzie (12-2).
The official announcement was made Saturday night “Lightweight Aaron Riley will throw down in his hometown against TUF 12 submission specialist Cody McKenzie.”
The rapidly filling UFC on FUEL TV 3 card is expected take place on May 15, 2012 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia and has yet to have a main event bout named for the event.
Riley suffered a broken jaw in his last fight, losing to Tony Ferguson at UFC 135 last September via TKO (Corner stoppage). Riley had been scheduled to appear at UFC 119 versus Pat Audinwood but was forced to withdraw due to injury. Before that Riley had his last Octagon victory, earning a decision over Joe Brammer at UFC 114 in May 2010. Over Riley’s six Octagon appearances, he has traded win for a loss each time.
McKenzie has dropped two in a row, the first two losses of his career, and is 1-2 in the UFC. He had been scheduled to face Michael Johnson at UFC on FOX 2 last month but was forced out due to injury. McKenzie had his last fight in September, a submission loss to Vagner Rocha at UFN 25, and before that another rear-naked choke loss on the Fight for the Troops 2 card in January 2011 versus Yves Edwards.
