Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White announced a middleweight bout between Alan Belcher (17-6) vs. Rousimar ‘Toquinho’ Palhares (14-3) for the upcoming UFC on FOX 3 event this coming May.
White Tweeted the message on Monday (@danawhite).
– Alan Belcher vs Rousimar Palhares fight added to FOX card!!!!!!
UFC on Fox 3 is expected to take place on May 5, 2012 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Belcher is 5-1 in his last six Octagon appearances, earning a first round TKO victory over Jason MacDonald at UFN 25 last September to win his third straight. Previous wins in the streak include a second round submission finish of Patrick Cote at UFC 113 and a TKO stoppage of Wilson Gouveia at UFC 107.
Palhares earned the sixth heel hook submission of his career, and second “Submission of the Night” victory last month in Rio de Janeiro after forcing Mike Massenzio to tap in the first round of UFC 142. That was ‘Toquinho’s’ third straight which includes a decision victory against Dan Miller at UFC 134 and a kneebar submission over Dave Branch at UFC on Versus 3. Palhares sports a 7-2 record in the Octagon.
