Well it appears that Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva (16-3) will not be making his Octagon debut this April versus former UFC champ Cain Velasquez as was previously rumored, now that UFC Exec Lorenzo Fertitta has confirmed that Velasquez will be facing Frank Mir this spring.

Now the latest rumor for the Brazilian heavyweight has him debuting this May versus an unknown opponent. Tatame.com posted the update on Tuesday.

If this proves true, ‘Bigfoot’ could step into the Octagon at one of three events confirmed for this May. Either UFC on FOX 3 set for May 5th in East Rutherford, New Jersey, or UFC on FUEL TV 3 which takes place on May 15 in Fairfax, Virginia, or lastly, UFC 146 in Las Vegas which is expected to host a UFC title fight between Junior dos Santos vs. Alistair Overeem as well as the Velasquez vs. Mir bout.

Silva is 3-1 in his last four bouts, having suffered a knockout loss to Daniel Cormier in the semi-final round of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix. ‘Bigfoot’ earned a second round TKO (doctor stoppage) over Fedor Emelianenko in the tournament opener, while defeating Mike Kyle and Andrei Arlovski in 2010 as part of his three straight wins.
