A featherweight bout has been announced for the upcoming UFC on FX 3 event pitting the ‘Bad Boy’ Leonard Garcia (15-8-1) against Matt ‘The Real One’ Grice (14-4) for the television event.
Officials announced the match at UFC.com Thursday (March 29, 2012).
Leonard Garcia and Matt Grice have agreed to a featherweight bout at UFC on FX in June. Garcia is known for his wild and wide-open style in the Octagon, Grice is equally aggressive, which should translate into an intriguing match-up.
UFC on FX 3 is expected to take place on June 8 in a city to be determined by fan voting in the Harley-Davidson Hometown Throwdown contest.
Garcia is likely looking at joining the unemployment line should he lose this match, having dropped his last two and gone just 1-3 in his last four bouts. ‘Bad Boy’ earned a “Fight of the Night” bonus in a losing effort versus Nam Phan in their rematch at UFC 136. Garcia also lost a rematch previous to that, to Chan Sung Jung at UFN 24 via Twister submission. His last win was over Phan, at the TUF 12 Finale via controversial split decision.
Grice rejoined the UFC last June in his featherweight debut, losing via first round TKO to Ricardo Lamas at the UFC on Versus 4 show. ‘The Real One’ returned to the UFC on a four fight win streak after going 1-3 in the UFC. His previous Octagon match took place at UFC 100 in 2009, losing to Shannon Gugerty via technical submission.
