Ultimate Fighting Championship officials in Brazil announced a lightweight bout today (March 30, 2012) between ‘The Young Assassin’ Melvin Guilard (29–10–2, 1NC), who looks to end a two-fight losing skid, and Fabrício ‘Morango’ Camões (14-6-1) for this July’s upcoming UFC 148 event.

UFC 148 is expected to take place on July 7, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and is expected to host a bantamweight title fight between TUF 15 coaches Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber.

Guillard will look to climb his way back near the top of the lightweight division against Camoes. ‘The Young Assassin’ suffered a first round submission loss to Jim Miller last January in the main event of UFC on FX 1. It was Guillard’s second straight submission loss, tapping to Joe Lauzon at UFC 136 last October. Guillard’s last win came last July at UC 132 after stopping Shane Roller by knockout.

Camoes is in his second run with the UFC, having won his return bout and carrying a three fight win streak into this bout at UFC 148. Camoes submitted Tommy Hayden last January at the same FX event as Guillard’s last match, returning after two straight wins with the Tachi Palace Fights promotion. The Brazilian’s previous stint with the UFC was a 0-1-1 run with a loss to Kurt Pellegrino at UFC 111 and a majority draw versus Caol Uno at UFC 106.
