A lightweight tilt is being reported for this July’s upcoming UFC on FUEL TV 4 event featuring recent UFC 145 winner Anthony ‘The Assassin’ Njokuani (15-6, 1NC) and English striker ‘Relentless’ Paul Taylor (11-6-1, 1NC).
News of the bout is being reported by Fighters Only who confirmed that the paperwork had been drawn up for the bout, which would see them battle on the nights televised card.
UFC on FUEL TV 4 is expected to take place on July 11, 2012 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.
Both fighters have been scheduled to fight once already, back in November 2011 as part of UFC 138. Just days before the event, Taylor was forced out of the bout after a minor traffic accident. With little time left to organize a new opponent for Njokuani, the promotion opted to pull the fight from the card.
Njokuani is coming off a unanimous decision win over John Makdessi just last weekend in Atlanta, Georgia as part of UFC 145. ‘The Assassin’ fought Makdessi in a 158-lbs catchweight bout after ‘The Bull’ missed weight for the bout. The victory allowed Njokuani to bounce back from a split decision loss to Danny Castillo at UFC 140 last December.
Taylor also earned a win in his last match, ending a two fight losing skid by knocking out Gabe Ruediger at UFC 126 in February 2011. ‘Relentless’ has seen two matches scrapped in 2011, first it was a bout versus Makdessi at UFC on Versus 5 failing to materialize due to injuries to both fighters, and then of course the aforementioned UFC 138 bout versus Njokuani.
