Former UFC welterweight contender Josh Koscheck (17-6) says he’s been offered a bout with former two division champion BJ Penn (16-8-2) and that he said “Yes” to the fight.
Koscheck took to Twitter (joshkoscheck) Wednesday night to announce the bout.
– #UFC just offered me to fight BJ Penn…I said YES!!!!! Just waiting on him!!!!!! Let’s scrap bra?
No word from the UFC or BJ Penn has surfaced at this time.
Koscheck suffered a split decision loss to Johny Hendricks earlier this month in the co-main event of the UFC on FOX: Diaz vs. Miller event. The defeat ended a two fight win streak for the former No. 1 contender.
After a loss to Nick Diaz in October of last year at UFC 137, Penn stated that he was planning to take some “time off to enjoy life, train and teach.” The former two division champ offered no clue as to when, or if he might return and has been pretty quiet since then.
‘The Prodigy’ is currently celebrating the opening of his own UFC gym in Hawaii this past Monday. The gym is called “UFC Gym BJ Penn” and is located in Honolulu, Oahu offering a 37,000 square foot facility for the entire family.
