UFC light heavyweight champ Jon ‘Bones’ Jones was taken into custody early Saturday morning in Binghamton, New York after the champ was involved in an accident at approx. 5am EST.
According to TMZ.com, Jones crashed into a pole and totaled his Bentley. The police were on scene and arrested Jones for suspicion of a DUI. Jones reportedly only suffered “minor injuries” in the accident.
Jones was bailed out a jail a few hours later by his mother.
This follows on the heals of ‘Bones’ most recent win over former champ Rashad Evans at UFC 145 last month. Jones was sponsored by the UFC promotion itself in that fight, something the champ was very proud of nothing that “You never have to worry about me with a DWI or doing something crazy.”
It remains to be seen how UFC president Dana White will react to this if the promotions “poster boy” is charged an found guilty.
This is the second car accident for Jones that has made the news. In January 2011, Jones got into a fender bender with another of his cars just before his fight with Ryan Bader. Jones was uninjured in that vehicle mishap.
