UFC officials announced a featherweight bout for this August’s UFC on FOX 4 event between Pablo ‘The Scarecrow’ Garza (11-3) and Josh ‘The Fluke’ Grispi (14-3), which will see both men looking to end a two fight losing skid.
Josh Grispi also returns to the Octagon for the first time since June of 2011 that same night to face Pablo Garza. Once on the doorstep of a featherweight title berth, Grispi is looking to work his way up the ranks once more, but he will have to get past the durable Garza. Both fighters have the ability to end a fight in the blink of an eye.
UFC on Fox: Stann vs. Lombard (aka UFC on Fox 4) is expected to take place on August 4, 2012 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
Garza is 2-2 since joining the UFC after the WEC merger and is currently riding a two-fight losing streak. ‘The Scarecrow’ suffered his last defeat earlier this month at UFC on FOX 3, dropping a decision to Dennis Bermudez at the New Jersey event. The other loss was to Dustin Poirier at the first FOX event last November, losing by d’arce choke in the second round of their match. Garza’s last win was a memorable one as he used a flying triangle choke to submit Yves Jabouin at UFC 129 over a year ago.
Grispi is still searching for his first Octagon victory after two appearances with the UFC. ‘The Fluke’ hasn’t fought since last June, where he suffered a third round KO loss to George Roop at the TUF 13 Finale. Grispi had been scheduled to appear at UFC 136 in October but was forced off the card. Grispi had his last victory in the WEC cage, earning a technical submission against LC Davis at WEC 49 in Edmonton, Canada.
