Former UFC champion, and current “TUF Brazil” coach, Vitor ‘The Phenom’ Belfort (21-9) has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming UFC 147 headlining bout with opposing coach Wanderl Silva.

UFC president Dana White announced the news during Saturday’s post fight press conference.

“I wake up this morning, and I find out Vitor Belfort breaks his hand, and he has to have [expletive] surgery,” White said.

Belfort and Silva were to meet on June 23, 2012 at the Mineirinho Arena in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in the main event of UFC 147.

Belfort Tweeted (@vitorbelfort) a photo of his injured hand early this morning.

White told the gathered media at the post fight presser that Silva would be staying on the card and are “working” to find an opponent for ‘The Axe Murderer’.
