UFC welterweight Matthew Riddle suffered an injury and has been forced out of his upcoming UFC on FX 4 bout with Brazilian Luis ‘Beicao’ Ramos (19-7).
Stepping in for Riddle will be veteran Matt ‘The Immortal’ Brown (14-11) who now has just over three weeks to prepare.
Riddle and Ramos had been scheduled to meet last December at UFC 141, but the bout was scratched after Riddle became ill at the last moment on fight night.
The UFC made the change official at UFC.com on Wednesday.
For the second time in six months. Matthew Riddle has been forced out of a planned bout with Luis “Beicao” Ramos. An injury has sidelined Riddle, who was set to meet Ramos in Atlantic City. Ramos will now face durable veteran Matt “The Immortal” Brown instead.
UFC on FX 4 (aka UFC on FX: Maynard vs. Guida) is scheduled to take place on June 22, 2012 at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Brown fought last month at UFC 145, winning his second straight bout for the first time since 2009 by earning a decision over Stephen Thompson at the Atlanta show. ‘The Immortal’ is 3-1 in his last four with a second round TKO stoppage of Chris Cope at UFC 143, a submission loss to Seth Baczynski at UFC 139, and a decision over John Howard at UFC on Versus 4 last summer.
Ramos will enter the UFC cage for the second time in his career having made a poor first appearance in August of last year. At the Brazilian event, ‘Beicao’ had a three fight win streak stopped in 40-seconds by Erick Silva via first round TKO. Ramos has earned 11 victories by decision, and four by both (T)KO and submission.
