UFC on FX 3 Medical Suspensions In, Seven Fighters Receive Sentences

On Tuesday, the Florida State Boxing Commission released it’s medical suspensions for fighters competing on last Friday’s UFC on FX 3 event in Sunrise.

A total of seven fighters received suspensions, with “Fight of the Night” winners Eddie Wineland and Scott Jorgensen receiving 60-day suspensions for. Also sentenced to 60-days was Josh Neer who was knocked out by Mike Pyle in the last seconds of the first round.

Earning an indefinite suspension was featherweight prelim fighter Matt Grice, who is out with a possible broken left foot and could be cleared following an orthopedic consult. Grice earned a unanimous decision versus Leonard Garcia at the Florida show.

As a side note to medical issues following the event, of the twenty-four fighters competing only two underwent random drug testing by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

According to MMAWeekly.com, the two tested were main event flyweights Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson and Ian ‘Uncle Creepy’ McCall, both of whom came back clean.

UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall II too place on June 8, 2012 at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida with bouts airing on Facebook, FUEL TV, and FX television.

Lance Benoist: Suspended 45 days sue to lacerations on right eyebrow and under right eye
Sean Pierson: Suspended 45 days due to scalp laceration
Justin Salas: Suspended 30 days due to chin laceration
