Following last nights (June 22, 2012) UFC on FX 4 event at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey “Fight Night” bonuses of $50,000 were handed down to fighters Cub Swanson, Dan Miller, Sam Stout & Spencer Fisher.
The winners were announced at the events post-fight press conference along with the event attendance of 4,652 for the television event.
UFC on FX: Maynard vs. Guida was shown on FX television for the main event, on FUEL TV for the majority of the prelims, and via streaming video on Facebook.com/UFC for the opening two matches.
Earning “Knockout of the Night” was Swanson for his second round finish of TUF 9 winner Ross Pearson. While “Submission of the Night” went to Dan Miller for his prelim card victory. And “Fight of the Night” went to the trilogy bout between Sam Stout and Spencer Fisher.
Swanson used a three punch combination to drop Pearson in the second round of their main card opening bout. It was the second straight victory for Swanson who hadn’t done so since 2008, which helped lead him to a WEC title match with current UFC/WEC champ Jose Aldo. Both Swanson and Pearson offered a spirited two rounds but the punch to Pearson’s chin put him to the mat, forcing referee Yves Lavigne to jump in to pull Swanson off the downed fighter.
Miller ended a two fight losing streak having dropped down to 170-lbs for the first time in his career by submitting Ricardo Funch on the Facebook prelims. The two fighters would battle into the third round and during a scramble managed to sink in a guillotine choke on Funch. With Funch attempting to roll out of the submission, Miller was able to better secure his position and force the tap marking Funch’s second straight loss.
Stout and Fisher would go the distance for a third time in their history with the Canadian earning the unanimous decision from the Judges in what is likely Fisher’s last bout. With both fighters keeping the striking close, it was likely Stout’s takedowns that helped to score points in the judges eyes but the bloodied face of Fisher was certainly a factor also.
