A pair of middleweight fighters will meet this November when Tristar gym fighter Francis ‘Limitless’ Carmont (19-7) takes on ‘Filthy’ Tom Lawlor (8-4, 1NC) in Canada as part of UFC 154.
MMAFighting.com broke the news Tuesday afternoon, noting that both fighters had verbally agreed to the match.
UFC 154 is expected to occur on November 17, 2012 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada The event is expected to host a UFC welterweight unification bout between champion Georges St-Pierre and interim title holder Carlos Condit.
Carmont, who hales from France but trains in Montreal at the Tristar Gym alongside GSP, is riding an eight fight win streak with three victories inside the Octagon. He recently stopped Karlos Vemola earlier this month at UFC on FUEL TV 4 by stopping the Czech fighter by second round submission. Carmont’s two previous matches include a submission win versus Magnus Cedenblad at UFC on FUEL TV 2 and a decision over Chris Camozzi at UFC 137.
Lawlor will look to string together multiple wins in a row, something he hasn’t done since July 2009. He finished Canadian fighter Jason MacDonald in Virginia this past May as part of the UFC on FUEL TV 3 show, earning himself the “Knockout of the Night” bonus. The win put ‘Filthy’ back into the win column after he was choked unconscious by Chris Weidman last November at UFC 139.
