Returning from a self-imposed retirement will be UFC light heavyweight Matt ‘The Hammer’ Hamill (10-4), who is set to take on promotion newcomer Roger ‘The Hulk’ Hollett (13-3) in Toronto when the two square off at UFC 152.
Promotion officials made the announcement on Friday at UFC.com for the upcoming Ontario event.
Matt “The Hammer” Hamill has verbally agreed to make his UFC return against Canadian newcomer Roger “The Hulk” Hollett in a light heavyweight bout at UFC 152.
UFC 152: Benavidez vs. Johnson is expected occur on September 22, 2012 in at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada and features a title fight for the inaugural flyweight championship between Joseph Benavidez versus Demetrious Johnson.
Hamill retired from the sport following a second round TKO loss versus Alexander Gustafsson in August of last year at UFC 133. It was ‘The Hammer’s’ second straight defeat. That other loss came at the hands of former champ Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson at UFC 130, with Jackson winning a unanimous decision. Hamill’s last victory came at UFC 121 with a decision win over Tito Ortiz.
Hollett hails from Eastern Canada and has competed across the North with various mixed martial arts promotions including the MFC. ‘The Hulk’ won his fourth in a row when he debuted inside the Bellator cage last November by winning a split decision against John Hawk. Hollett has earned four victories by (T)KO, seven by submission, and two by decision over his career.
