With news of a knee injury sidelining UFC light heavyweight contender Dan Henderson surfing the blogosphere Wednesday evening, and with just eight days left before UFC 151, undefeated UFC middleweight Chris Weidman (9-0) offered UFC brass his services as a replacement for Henderson versus UFC champion Jon Jones.

As we all know, Jones was already offered a fight with another middleweight, Chael Sonnen, to which ‘Bones’ turned down the fight leaving UFC president Dana White little choice but to cancel the entire event.

Weidman’s manager David Martin spoke to MMAWeekly.com about the offer.

“We did reach out to Joe Silva about potentially throwing Chris’ name in the mix. I think when we did it, it was probably a little bit late in the game. He had already turned down the fight with Chael Sonnen, so it is what it is.”

“Chris was willing, able and ready to step up and move up a weight class to fight Jon Jones on 8 days notice.”

Weidman is currently for his next opponent, and is hoping that fight will be against UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva.

The wrestler is coming off a spectacular second round knockout finish of Mark Munoz last July in the main event of UFC on FUEL TV 4.
