Former UFC champion Vitor ‘The Phenom’ Belfort (21-9) will be the man stepping in versus UFC light heavyweight title holder Jon Jones in Toronto, Canada next month in the main event of UFC 152.

Other names that have come up as possible opponents include Chael Sonnen, Chris Weidman, and UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva.

So it’s no wonder that Belfort, who was scheduled to fight Alan Belcher at UFC 153 in Brazil this October, took to Twitter (@vitorbelfort) to thank Jones camp for accepting the fight with him.

Belfort has won two straight and is coming off a first round submission win over Anthony Johnson last January in the co-main event of UFC 142. ‘The Phenom’ has not fought at 205-lbs since September 2007 when he competed in London, England for the Cage Rage LHW title, defeating opponent James Zikic by decision.

UFC 152: Jones vs. Belfort is scheduled to take place on September 22, 2012 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada.
