The Canadian based Score Fighting Series returned to action on Saturday night (August 25, 2012) at the Hamilton Place Theatre in Hamilton, Ontario with a ten bout card.

The Score Fighting Series 5 show was broadcast in Canada on theScore Television Network, and fans across the world were able to catch the event via live streaming video on the promotions website.

From Adam Martin at theScore.com:

In the main event of Score Fighting Series 5, hometown hero Josh Hill dominated veteran John Fraser with takedowns and top control and was able to win a unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27). Hill’s explosive double leg takedown allowed him to get Fraser to the ground repeatedly, and despite Fraser being a solid ground fighter, the 25-year old Hill was just too strong and powerful and Fraser wasn’t able to do anything off his back. With the big win, Hill upped his unblemished record to 9-0, and it’s possible the UFC gives him the call up to the big show in the near future. Fraser, meanwhile, fell to 10-4.

In the co-main event of the evening, Jesse Ronson and Alex Ricci engaged in a terrific three-round tilt that very well could have been “Fight of the Night,” with Ronson winning a unanimous decision (30-27, 30, 27, 30-27). Ronson looked like a world beater in this fight, displaying incredible boxing technique that allowed him to drop Ricci multiple times, as well as employing some nasty leg kicks that dropped Ricci to the ground. And although Ricci mounted a late comeback, it wasn’t enough, as he suffered the first loss of his MMA career and dropped to 5-1. Ronson improved to 11-2 and can look forward to a step up in competition in his next Score Fighting Series outing.
