A pair of heavyweights will clash at the Ultimate Fighting Championships year end show in Las Vegas, as former TUF 10 alum Matt ‘Meathead’ Mittrione (5-1) is set to clash with English submission ace Phil De Fries (9-1, 1NC).

Officials confirmed the heavyweight bout on Friday.

UFC 155 is expected to take place on December 29, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mitrione was scheduled to face Rob Broughton at the UFC on FOX 5, but will now meet De Fries. His undefeated run ended at five victories with the end coming at the hands of Cheick Kongo, who won a decision over the TUF competitor at UFC 137. Mitrione earned his last victory at UFC on Verus 4 in June 2011, finishing Christian Morecraft via knockout. Four of ‘Meathead’s’ five victories have come via (T)KO.

De Fries looks to build on a submission victory over fellow countrymen Oli Thompson at the UFC on FOX 4, to put his Octagon record at 2-1. De Fries suffered a knockout loss to Stipe Miocic at UFC on FUEL TV 1 and won his debut at UFC 138 by winning a decision over Rob Broughton.
