A pair of veteran middleweights will face-off on opposite sides of the Octagon this November when Patrick ‘The Predator’ Côté (17-8) welcomes Alessio ‘Legionarius’ Sakara (15-9, 1NC) to his hometown of Montreal, Quebec, Canada as part of UFC 154.
Officials with the promotion confirmed the matchup on Friday at UFC.com.
A middleweight matchup that should be a classic has been verbally agreed to as boxer Alessio “Legionarius” Sakara will take on Quebecois kickboxer Patrick “The Predator” Cote at UFC 154 in Montreal.
UFC 154 is expected to occur on November 17, 2012 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Côté returned to the Octagon last July, seeing a four fight win streak earned outside of the UFC, ended by former Strikeforce champ Cung Le by decision at UFC 148. Côté had earned two decision victories and two (T)KO stoppages with promotions in Canada and Brazil. The French-Canadian was released from the UFC following three straight losses which came at the hands of Anderson Silva, Alan Belcher and Tom Lawlor.
Sakara may be facing the same situation that Côté faced a few years ago with two-losses in a row on his record. ‘Legionarius’ was knocked out by Brian Stann last April at UFC on FUEL TV 2, and lost a decision to Chris Weidman at UFC on Versus 4 in March 2011. His last victory occurred at UFC on Versus 1 with a first round TKO finish of James Irvin in March 2010.
