The upcoming UFC card in Brazil has suffered a double whammy, losing featherweight champ José Aldo (21-1) and former light heavyweight title holder Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson (32-10) to injury.

UFC president Dana White announced the changes to the UFC 153 card on Twitter (@DanaWhite) this afternoon.

UFC 153 is scheduled to take place on October 13, 2012 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and is now left without a main and co-main event matchup.

Jackson is out with an undisclosed injury and leaves Brazilian Glover Teixeira (18-2) without an opponent for the event.

While Aldo is out with a foot injury, leaving questions about whether opponent Frankie Edgar will remain on the card as the former lightweight champ had stepped in for an injured Erik Koch. Aldo was also recently involved in a motor vehicle accident, but was allegedly well enough to remain on the Rio card.

UFC 153 is expected to occur on October 13, 2012 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

‘Rampage’ is looking to complete his UFC contact, with the Brazilian bout being his final match before the injury. Jackson has lost two straight, losing a decision to Ryan Bader at UFC 144 and tapping out to Jon Jones at UFC 135 in their title match. The former light heavyweight champ earned his lats victory at UFC 130 in May 2011 by defeating Matt Hamill via decision.

Aldo has won fourteen straight, including three UFC featherweight title defenses and seven matches in total for the WEC/UFC strap. The Brazilian earned his last victory in January of this year, stopping Chad Mendes by knockout after landing a knee with just one-second left on the clock at UFC 142 in Rio.
