The upcoming Montreal event, UFC 154, has added another Canadian fighter to the card as Nick ‘The Promise’ Ring (13-1) gets set to face Cypriot fighter Constantinos ‘Costa’ Philippou (11-2, 1NC) in a middleweight matchup this November.
News of the bout was announced by The Canadian Press on Sunday evening.
UFC 154 is expected to take place on November 17, 2012 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and will be headlined by a UFC welterweight unification bout between champion Georges St-Pierre versus interim title holder Carlos Condit.
Ring is 1-1 in his last two and is 3-1 in the octagon since joining the promotion in February 2011. The Canadian outpointed Court McGee earlier this summer in Calgary at UFC 149 to win a unanimous decision versus the former TUF competitor. Ring lost his first pro-match a year ago, losing a decision to Tim Boetsch at UFC 135.
Philippou carries a four fight win streak into the fight and is 4-1 in the Octagon. The Cypriot fighter earned a decision against Riki Fukuda this past July at UFC 148 to earn that fourth victory. His other wins include a decision against Court McGee, a knockout finish of Jared Hamman and a split decision against Jorge Rivera.
