A light heavyweight bout between Anthony ‘The Hippo’ Perosh (13-7) and Joey ‘The Mexicutioner’ Beltran (14-8) is on tap for this December’s upcoming UFC on FX: Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson event.
News of the matchup was first announced by the DailyTelegraph.com.au who learned of the bout from UFC officials.
UFC on FX: Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson (aka UFC on FX 6) is expected to take place on December 15, 2012 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The event will air in North America on December 14.
Perosh saw his three fight win streak end this past summer in Calgary at UFC 149 as debuting Canadian Ryan Jimmo landed a one-punch knockout, finishing the fight in seven seconds. ‘The Hippo’ had earned finishes over Nick Penner via TKO, at UFC on FX 2, a rear naked choke submission against Cyrille Diabaté at UFC 138, and another rear naked choke finish over Tom Blackledge at UFC 127.
Beltran will compete as a light heavyweight for the second time inside of the Octagon when he meets Perosh. ‘The Mexicutioner’ returned to the UFC last July, following his release and a one fight absence, losing a unanimous decision to James Te-Huna at UFC on FUEL TV 4. That match, also earned Beltran the “Fight of the Night” bonus. His first fight at 205-lbs came in April at a C3 Fights event, and had Beltran earning a decision victory in his light heavyweight debut.
