A lightweight matchup has been confirmed for the UFC’s end-year event, UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez II, as TUF 12 runner up Michael ‘The Menace’ Johnson (12-6) and TUF 15 participant Myles ‘The Fury’ Jury (10-0) are set to meet at the Vegas event.
News of the bout was first reported by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto on Twitter (@bokamotoESPN) and later confirmed by news websites such as MMAWeekly.com.
The recently confirmed UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez II is set to take place on December 29, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The bout between Johnson and Jury is expected to take place on the preliminary card.
The Blackzilian fighter, Johnson, earned a come-from-behind “Knockout of the Night” bonus winning victory over Danny Castillo earlier this month as part of the UFC on FX 5 event. The victory was Johnson’s third straight victory having also beaten Tony Ferguson, at UFC on FOX 3, and Shane Roller, at UFC on FOX 2, by unanimous decision.
Jury debuted with the UFC this past June at the TUF 15 Finale, submitting Chris Saunders at the Vegas event to keep his pro-record perfect at ten straight victories. ‘The Fury’ was a member of Team Cruz and was eliminated by Al Iaquinta in the opening preliminary round of the reality series. The former KOTC prospect has finished all of his opponents in the first round.
