South Korean bantamweight ‘Typhoon’ Kang Kyung-Ho (11-6) has withdrawn from his upcoming Octagon debut due to injury. Kang was scheduled to face TUF 12 member ‘Bruce Leeroy’ Alex Caceres (7-5) at the Chinese event.

Kang made the announcement to South Korean media recently saying he had broken his foot during training.

The former Road FC bantamweight title winner talked about how the injury happened (transcribed by Fighters Only):

“It was my own carelessness. Its so bad,” he told Korean media. “This was such a big opportunity that I have been working really hard, sparring very hard, there were a lot of expectations and I had so many family and friends who bought tickets to fly to Macau. Its hard for me to express in words about this situation… its so bad.”

“I’ve missed the chance to debut in Macau now but it will only make me work harder and more determined to recover. I want to make a stunning fight maybe in the United States next year, February or March maybe,” says Kang.

This now leaves Caceres without an fight and just twelve days for the promotion to find a new opponent.

I find it unlikely that the promotion will find a UFC regular to take the fight considering it is on the other side of the world. The promotion could sign a new prospect as I am certain there are a wealth of talent training at the Evolve MMA gym in Singapore.

When Kang steps into the Octagon, it will be on a three fight win streak having fought his way through the Road FC bantamweight tournament in South Korea to claim that promotions title this past June. He has earned ten of his eleven victories by stoppage, submitting eight opponents while finishing the other two by (T)KO as well as earning one decision win.
