Less than a week after an injury to Australian fighter Kyle ‘KO’ Noke (20-6-1), the Ultimate Fighting Championship has found a replacement for the welterweight in Mike Pierce (15-5) for this December’s upcoming UFC On FX 6 event.
Pierce will take on ‘The Polish Pistola’ Seth Baczynski (17-6) at the FX television event.
The matchup was first announced by MMAjunkie.com on Wednesday and later confirmed via Twitter (@Sethbmma) by Baczynski.
– Well they found a replacement for FX 6 I’ll be fighting @MikePierce. Stoked for this fight, it’s going to be a tough one.
UFC on FX: Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson is expected to take place on December 15, 2012 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Queensland, Australia. The event will air in North America on Dec. 14 due to the difference in time zones.
Pierce fought earlier this month, finishing Aaron Simpson via second round knockout on the main card of UFC on FX 5. It was Pierce’s second straight win putting his overall Octagon record at 7-3. The other victory came in June at the UFC on FX 3 show with a unanimous decision against Carlos Eduardo Rocha.
Baczynski has won six straight, with four victories in the Octagon. He was also involved with the UFC 152 card, finishing Simeon Thoresen by first round knockout. ‘The Polish Pistola’ earned wins over Lance Benoist, Matt Brown and Clay Harvison, all part of his Octagon return after a loss at the TUF 11 Finale to Brad Tavares in June 2010.
