Officials with the Ultimate Fighting Championship have updated the upcoming UFC on FOX 6 card over the last few days, including a light heavyweight bout between Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson (32-10) and Glover Teixeira (19-2).
Making his featherweight debut will be fan favorite Clay ‘The Carpenter’ Guida (29-13), who takes on Japanese fighter Hatsu Hioki (26-5-2). Another featherweight matchup has. Heavyweights Mike Russow (15-2) and Shawn ‘The Savage’ Jordan (13-4) are also set to clash.
Another featherweight matchup, originally named to the end year UFC 155 event, has Erik ‘New Breed’ Koch (13-1) and Ricardo ‘The Bully’ Lamas (12-2) meeting in a No. 1 contender bout.
UFC on FOX 6 is expected to take place on January 26, 2012 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The main card will air live on FOX television with the prelims airing on FUEL TV.
Guida will drop down to 145-lbs, after announcing the move this past September. ‘The Carpenter’ has dropped his last two, losing a split decision to Gray Maynard and a decision to Benson Henderson.
Hioki saw his six fight win streak stopped by Lamas this summer at UFC on FX 4, losing a decision to ‘The Bully’ putting the Japanese fighters Octagon record at 2-1.
Russow saw his eleven fight win streak stopped in June by Fabricio Werdum at UFC 147, losing via first round TKO. The Chicago Cop will fight at home for the second time in three bouts.
Jordan is 1-1 in the Octagon with a decision loss to Cheick Kongo in July at UFC 149 and a second round TKO win over Oli Thompson at UFC on FX 2.
Koch had been scheduled to face Jose Aldo for the featherweight title at UFC 153, but was forced out with an injury. ‘New Breed’ is on a four fight win streak with his last victory at UFN 25 by decision against Jonathan Brookins.
Lamas has won three straight and was linked to a December bout with Frankie Edgar till the former 155 champ changed cards to face Jose Aldo at UFC 153. His last fight was a decision victory over Hioki at UFC on FX 4.
